About Us

Rich and Stephanie Rockwood Owner-operators

We are a small farm nursery and do everything ourselves. That means that when you order from us, Stephanie  and I have grown the seedling and then we have chosen and harvested the seedling or transplant and packed it for you. We made the shipping label and collected your money. We think that our personal touch in doing everything ourselves at least makes us different, and maybe better, than many other farms and businesses.

We are only trying to make as much money as is necessary to sustain our farm. That means you will find that our prices may be more reasonable than other sources and that we don’t make extra money through our shipping fees. It also means that our web site may not be as fancy as those of our competitors, because that too we try to maintain it as reasonably as possible.

If you need a certain number of seedlings or a special type of packaging for your event, we will do our best to give you what you want. Being small makes us able to meet the needs of the customer.

We ship our seedlings from April 1 until October 31st each year.

One of the things that we don’t like is the cost of shipping, especially when most of the big guys offer it free.  Unfortunately, we don’t get the discounts that they get!  We charge only what USPS or FedEx charges us!

We are beginning an effort to rid our farm and the world of plastics. We encourage you not to use or order plastics, if possible, from us or anyone else. That said, we know we’ve shipped a lot of plastic in the past and will still do so if a customer orders it, but we encourage you not to use it. We use environmentally safe compostable bags that are available in larger sizes, but unfortunately not in seedling-sized bags, to package the moist bare plugs and the burlap bags for your order. Unless, however, you choose to have them put in the clear plastic bags or have us put the seedlings in burlap bags. Seedlings can be kept moist in their bare plug form for weeks if treated kindly. They can also be wrapped in various forms of paper temporarily – like in the burlap bags for your event. Thanks to all that took the time to read and heed our effort.

The best way to contact us is by email:  rich@christmastrees.net

We are open for seedling sales locally, but please email  before you come to the farm nursery so we can be sure to be home.
