What is a Redrock Farm “premium” Christmas tree?
Premium is the top grade of Christmas tree. A premium tree would win a blue ribbon at a tree competition. A premium tree could be placed in the center of the room and as you walk around it, you’d find no more than two very minor flaws.
Rich inspects every tree in the field and then again before it is put in the box.
What is the Trees for Troops Program?
As a way to give back to those who serve our country, the Christmas Spirit Foundation, in conjunction with FedEx, provides Real Christmas Trees to military members and their families. The Trees for Troops program aims to provide holiday cheer to military families who may be away from their families at Christmas time. In 2007, the program delivered 17,000 trees to more than 40 bases.
When are trees that you ship cut?
We cut trees as close as possible to the shipping date. Most days we cut trees in the morning, and then box those trees for shipping the next day. If there is a significant snow storm on the way, we may cut a couple days worth. Our goal is to send our customers the freshest tree possible.
Where is Chelsea, Vermont?
Chelsea is in east-central Vermont at the junction of routes 110 and 113. Many customers, upon arrival at Redrock Farm say “You are really out there!” We’d admit we’re not close to the Interstate highways, but it’s worth the drive to get here.
Chelsea is the seat of Orange County. We are about 20 miles (as the crow flies) due north of the “v” where I-89 and I-91 meet in White River Junction, VT.
Why do 8 to 9 foot trees cost so much to ship?
They are shipped in 14 inch by 14 inch by 108 inch boxes that are huge and heavy, usually about 70 pounds. They take up a lot of trailer freight space. These are classified as Oversize 3 by FedEx and UPS. That means an immediate charge of $50 plus the dimensional weight, making them in the neighborhood of $115 to ship anywhere in the US..
